How to set the company details your invoices show

Fill in the legal name, address and payment details that Tideswell prints on every wholesale invoice you send.

Settings › Company details is your letterhead: who an invoice is from and how to pay you. Tideswell prints it on every wholesale invoice. See What is workspace admin? for the rest of Settings.

Fill it in once, before your first invoice goes to a buyer. You will rarely need to change it.

Before you start

Settings sits at the foot of the menu for admins of the workspace, and this is one of its rows. Saving needs the Rename organization row in Settings › Permissions, which admins have by default. See How to set who can do what.

What do you need to fill in?

The Legal name and Address. Send to buyer refuses to email an invoice until both are filled in, because an invoice has to say who sent it. Every other field is optional.

  1. Open Settings › Company details.
  2. Fill in the fields below.
  3. Press Save. "Company details saved." confirms it.

What does each field do?

  • Legal name: the name on the bill, not the brand name if they differ. Fairgreen Golf Co. might trade as Fairgreen and bill as its registered company.
  • Address: printed under the legal name. Type it on several lines, the way it should appear.
  • Billing email and Phone: printed under the address, so a buyer knows who to ask.
  • Tax or company number: an EIN, VAT number or company registration, whatever your buyers need. It prints under the phone number.
  • How to pay you: wire details, or who to make a cheque out to. It prints under a How to pay heading near the foot of the invoice.
  • Invoice footer: anything you want at the bottom of every invoice, such as your terms, a thank you or a returns note.

Where do these details appear?

Every field you fill in prints on a wholesale invoice's PDF, whether you download it or Send to buyer emails it. The CSV carries the Legal name in its From column, and the email's subject reads "Invoice INV-000123 from" followed by your legal name. See How to invoice a wholesale order and record payment for sending invoices.

The Legal name also signs purchase orders. When you send one to a supplier with Send revision, the From line reads your name with the legal name in brackets, such as "Priya Raman (Fairgreen Golf Co.)".

Until the Legal name is filled in, your workspace name stands in. See How to send a revision and export an order.

When do changes take effect?

From the moment you save. Every invoice you download or send from then on carries the new details, older invoices included.

Update the details before a big invoicing run rather than halfway through, so every buyer in that run receives the same letterhead.
