How to change the date range

The date button in the header of Selling › Analytics sets the period for the cards on that page, part of What is Store analytics?. It shows the period in force, Last 30 days when the page opens. Click it to open a list of periods beside a calendar.

How do you change the period?

1. Click the date button in the page header.
2. Pick a period from the list, type one into the Last box, or click two days on the calendar.
3. Check the dates printed at the foot of the panel.
4. Press Apply.

Apply stays greyed out until your choice would change something. Cancel closes the panel and keeps the period you had.

What can you pick?

The list opens with Today, Yesterday, Last, Period to date and Custom range.

• Last holds Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Last 90 days and Last 365 days, then Last week, Last month, Last quarter, Last 12 months and Last year.
• Period to date holds Week to date, Month to date, Quarter to date and Year to date.
• Custom range is any stretch you click on the calendar.

Above the calendar sits a Last box: type a number and pick Days, Weeks, Months, Quarters or Years for a period the list does not hold, such as the last 6 weeks.

What is the difference between a rolling and a finished period?

A rolling period counts back from today, so it moves every day. Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Last 90 days, Last 365 days, Last 12 months and anything typed in the Last box are rolling.

A finished period is a whole past week, month, quarter or year with fixed edges. Weeks run Monday to Sunday, so Last week is the whole of last Monday to Sunday. Last month in mid-August is all of July.

Use a rolling period to see how trading is going. Use a finished one for a figure somebody else will check, because Last month gives the same figure tomorrow and Last 30 days does not.

Period to date is the third kind: this week, month, quarter or year so far, ending today.

What does Include today do?

It moves a rolling period back a day; it never lengthens it. Last 7 days is seven days either way: ticked, it ends today, and unticked, it ends yesterday.

Untick it when today is only half over and would drag an average down. Leave it ticked, as it starts, when you want the position as it stands now.

The box works for the rolling periods and the Last box. It is greyed out for Today, Yesterday, the finished periods, the to-date periods and a custom range; hover over it to see why.

How do you pick your own dates?

Click the first day on the calendar, move to the last day (the band follows your pointer), and click it. Clicking a day before your first day starts the selection again from there.

The arrows above the calendar move a month at a time. From the keyboard, the arrow keys move between days and Enter or Space picks one.

If you click a stretch longer than two years, Tideswell keeps your end day and moves the start forward so the range covers two years. On a phone the calendar shows one month at a time.

Whose day does "today" mean?

Your Shopify store's. Days start and end at midnight in the store's time zone, whatever time zone you are in, so the figures match the same dates in Shopify. See How to read Tideswell's numbers and dates.

How do you share a period with a colleague?

Tell them the period by name, such as Last month, and they pick the same one. Analytics opens on Last 30 days each time, for everyone.

Does this picker change the other store pages?

No. It sets the period for Analytics only.
