How to sign in and switch workspaces on your phone
Sign in with a code, Google, or Apple, and use the Settings sheet to move between workspaces.
Signing in on the phone works like the web, with one extra option. The phone is also the only place in the whole product where you can move between workspaces.
How do you sign in?
Three ways on the iPhone app:
- An emailed code. Type your work email and Tideswell sends a six-digit code.
- Google, one button.
- Sign in with Apple, which is phone-only.
There are no passwords in Tideswell, so there is nothing to remember or reset.
Sign in with the exact email address you were invited on. A different address signs you in with no workspace, which is the same trap as on the web. See Getting started with Tideswell.
How do you switch workspaces?
Open the Settings sheet and use the workspace switcher.
This is the only place in Tideswell you can do it. If you work with more than one company on Tideswell, the phone is how you move between them.
One thing to expect: switching while you are on the Store tab can drop you back to Home, because the workspace you moved into may have Store switched off. Nothing has gone wrong.
What else is in the Settings sheet?
Your profile, the workspace switcher, notification settings, sign out, and delete account.
Notification settings are the ones worth opening on day one. They write the same preferences as the web, so quiet hours and your channel default follow you between the two. See How to set quiet hours and your default chat level.
How do notifications work here?
Turn them on, and tapping one lands you on the right screen: the message, the task, the alert.
The app badge clears and the unread count refreshes when you bring the app back from the background, which is the only thing that clears it.
See How to turn on notifications.
How do you delete your account?
From the Settings sheet. Account deletion is on the phone only, so this is the screen for it even if you otherwise work on the web.
It permanently removes your sign-in and your profile. Content you created stays with your team, attributed to a deleted user, so nothing your colleagues rely on disappears.
If you own a workspace it is refused, and the message tells you to transfer or delete the workspace on the web first. That is a guard rather than a fault: a workspace with no owner would strand everybody in it.
Note the difference between this and being removed from a workspace. Losing access to one workspace is something an admin does from the member roster, per How to add people and set roles. Deleting your account removes your Tideswell sign-in entirely.
Where do you change your name and photo?
On the web, in your account settings, per How to change your name, photo and sign-in email. The phone shows your profile rather than editing it.
