How to connect Klaviyo
Approve through Klaviyo or paste a private API key, then sync to fill the customer directory.
Klaviyo is where your customer history and its predictions live. Connecting it fills the customer directory and lets the analyst answer questions about your email and SMS performance.
Before you start
Settings › Integrations is admin-only, and connecting needs the manage-integrations permission.
How do you connect?
Two routes, and both are equally supported.
Through Klaviyo's approval screen, which is one click and nothing to copy.
With a private API key, pasted in. This is offered alongside the approval flow as an alternative rather than as a fallback, so use whichever suits how your Klaviyo account is set up.
What does it switch on?
Customers, the directory of everybody who has bought from you, with what they have spent, what Klaviyo predicts they will spend, their value tier and their churn risk. See What is the customer directory?.
Marketing answers from the analyst: how your segments and flows are performing, and which is slipping.
That matters more than it sounds, because segments and flows have no screen of their own in Tideswell, so asking is how you see them. See How to ask about stock, suppliers and marketing.
The Email & SMS check digest button on the home page.
The stale-data watchdog, which measures customer-data freshness and warns you when it stops refreshing.
Run a sync afterwards
Press Sync on the Customers screen once connected. It pulls customers and their stats across and reports how many were synced.
Do this straight away. The Tier and Churn risk filters do nothing until a sync has populated the stats, and the empty state says so and points at the button.
Sync is an admin action, and it stays unavailable until Klaviyo is connected.
What if a customer is missing?
The directory is built from Klaviyo, so somebody who has never reached Klaviyo is not in it. That is usually a customer who bought without subscribing, or a record created since the last sync.
Run Sync for the second case. See How to build a list of your best or most at-risk customers.
What if you do not use Klaviyo?
Everything else works. The Customers page shows a connect prompt rather than an empty table, and the analyst says so in its caveats rather than guessing when you ask a marketing question.
Nothing about chat, tasks, the store dashboards, stock, suppliers or purchasing depends on it.
What next?
You are set up. How to find your way around is the tour to send everybody you invited, and What is the analyst? is the fastest way to see what Tideswell now knows about your business.
