Getting started with Tideswell

Tideswell is one place for a brand's conversation, its work and its numbers: chat, tasks, projects, your Shopify store, your suppliers and purchase orders, and an Agent you can ask questions in plain English.

This section is the first hour.

How do you get access?

Tideswell is currently invitation-only. Creating a workspace needs a signup code, which we hand out directly while the product is in private beta.

If you do not have one yet, get in touch and we will sort you out. If a colleague has already set up your company's workspace, you do not need a code at all: you need an invitation from them, covered in How to invite your team and set up departments.

Which are you?

Two quite different first hours, so start in the right place.

You are setting up your company's workspace. You will create it, answer six short setup questions, review the workspace Tideswell proposes, and then invite everybody else. Start at How to set up Tideswell for the first time.

You are joining a workspace somebody else built. Sign in with the exact email address you were invited on. Skip to How to find your way around.

How do you sign in?

With your work email. Press Email me a 6-digit code, type the code Tideswell sends you, and press Sign in.

There are no passwords anywhere in Tideswell, so there is nothing to reset and nothing to rotate. You can also press Continue with Google, which is one button and no code.

If you were invited and sign in with an email code for the first time, Tideswell shows Welcome and asks "What should the team call you?". Type your name and you land in the workspace. Signing in with Google takes your name from your Google account and skips that step.

Sign in with the address you were invited on. An invite is tied to one exact email, so signing in with a personal address instead lands you in Tideswell with no workspace, and you will be asked to create one rather than joining your team's.

If a code does not arrive, use Use a different email or resend the code on the sign-in screen. For security, Tideswell never says whether an address is registered, so that message looks the same either way.

What is a workspace?

The private space for one company. Everything you see (chat, tasks, store data, suppliers) belongs to exactly one workspace.

One workspace connects one Shopify store, which is what makes every money figure in the product unambiguous.

What should you do first?

In this order.

1. Set up the workspace. Answer the six setup questions, review what Tideswell proposes, and press Build my workspace. See How to set up Tideswell for the first time.
2. Connect Shopify, because most of the useful screens are empty without it. See How to connect your Shopify store.
3. Set up your departments, because a department lead's extra rights apply only in the departments they lead. See How to invite your team and set up departments.
4. Invite people into those departments.

What is the Agent? is the fastest way to see what Tideswell knows about your business. Open it from the sparkle on the right-hand edge of any page, and try it on your first day rather than your second week.
