# How to report a problem from inside Tideswell

If something in Tideswell looks wrong or does not work, you can report it without leaving the
page. You point at the problem, add a few words, and send.

The Tideswell team gets a screenshot and the details they need. This is on the web app only. It is not in the iPhone app.

## How do you report a problem? [#how-do-you-report-a-problem]

1. Click the round bug button at the bottom right of the page.
2. Click the thing that is wrong. The page reads **Click the thing that's wrong. Esc to cancel.**
3. In the **Report a problem** box, type what is wrong under **What's wrong here?**
4. Pick a severity: **Minor**, **Annoying** or **Broken**. It starts on **Annoying**.
5. Press **Send**. A message reads **Sent. Thanks.** Press **View** to open the report.

Tideswell takes a screenshot of that area for you, with a red box round what you clicked. Check
it in the box before you send. To add your own picture too, press **Add your own image**.

If you change your mind, press **Cancel**, or press the bug button again.

## What do the severities mean? [#what-do-the-severities-mean]

* **Minor**: a small thing, such as a label that looks off.
* **Annoying**: it gets in your way, but you can still do your work.
* **Broken**: you cannot do what you came to do.

## Why can you not see the bug button? [#why-can-you-not-see-the-bug-button]

The button is hidden in three cases.

* Your screen is narrow, as on a phone.
* A call is open.
* The assistant pane is open.

Close the call or the assistant, or use a wider window, and the button comes back.

## What does Tideswell send with your report? [#what-does-tideswell-send-with-your-report]

Each report carries what you typed, the screenshot, the address of the page, the element you
clicked, your screen size, and any recent errors the page showed.

The Tideswell team sees the report and its screenshot. People in other workspaces never do.
Everyone in your own workspace can see it, as the next section explains.

## Where do you follow your reports? [#where-do-you-follow-your-reports]

Open **User menu › Account settings**, then **Bug reports** in the **You** list. You can also press
**View** on the **Sent. Thanks.** message.

Every member of your workspace sees all of the workspace's reports. Reports sit in three groups:
**In Progress**, **Open** and **Done**. Select a report to see its thread.

The thread shows what was reported, the screenshot, and every note. If the line **Fix written,
waiting to ship** appears, a fix exists but is not live yet.

## How do you answer a question about your report? [#how-do-you-answer-a-question-about-your-report]

The Tideswell team, or Claude, may ask you a question in the thread.

Type your answer in the box
that reads **Add a note or answer a question**. You can attach images. Press **Post reply**.

You can use the same box to add a note of your own at any time.

## What does Done mean, and what if it is still broken? [#what-does-done-mean-and-what-if-it-is-still-broken]

**Done** means the fix is live. If the problem is still there, open the report and press
**Reopen**. Add a note that says what you still see.

## How do you get an alert when your report changes? [#how-do-you-get-an-alert-when-your-report-changes]

Open **User menu › Account settings**, then **Notifications**. In the **Tasks** group, switch on
**Your bug reports**. Tideswell then alerts you when someone replies to a problem you reported,
or when it is fixed.

See <Ref to="notifications/turn-them-on" /> for how alerts reach your devices.
