Whatever you pick drives every card on **Store › Analytics** at once, including what each one compares itself against. See for the cards. ## What can you pick? [#what-can-you-pick] Four kinds of period, and it is worth knowing which you are choosing. * **Today** and **Yesterday**, straight from the first pane. * **Last**, holding Last 7, 30, 90 and 365 days, plus whole finished periods: Last week, Last month, Last quarter, Last 12 months and Last year. * **Period to date**, holding Week, Month, Quarter and Year to date, which always end today. * **A custom range**, by dragging or clicking across the two-month calendar. There is also a box where you type your own number and unit, for a **Last N** period in days, weeks, months, quarters or years. The exact dates you have selected are printed at the bottom of the panel. Read them before you press **Apply**, which is also greyed out when nothing would change. ## What is the difference between a rolling window and a finished period? [#what-is-the-difference-between-a-rolling-window-and-a-finished-period] A **rolling window** counts backwards from today. Last 30 days on the 14th is the 30 days ending on the 14th. A **calendar period** is a whole finished week, month, quarter or year with fixed edges. Last month in mid-August is the whole of July, regardless of what today is. Use a rolling window to see how trading is going. Use a finished period when you are reporting a number somebody else will check, because a finished month is the same number tomorrow and a rolling one is not. **Period to date** is the third shape: this month so far, which always ends today. ## What does "Include today" actually do? [#what-does-include-today-actually-do] It shifts a rolling window rather than lengthening it. **Last 7 days** is seven days either way: with today included it ends today, and without it, it ends yesterday. This is a deliberate difference from Shopify, where Last 7 days with today included covers eight days. Here the number of days stays the number you asked for. Untick it when today is half-finished and would drag an average down. Tick it when you want the position as it stands. The tickbox is unavailable for whole finished periods and for to-date ranges, because neither has anything to shift, and a tooltip explains why. ## How do you pick a custom range? [#how-do-you-pick-a-custom-range] Drag across the two-month calendar, or click a start date and then an end date. Arrow keys with Enter or Space work for keyboard selection. A custom range can cover up to 730 days, and a longer selection is pulled forward to fit rather than refused. Start dates go back about five years, and earlier days are unavailable in the calendar. On a phone the calendar shows one month at a time. ## Why did my date range reset? [#why-did-my-date-range-reset] Because the range lives in the page rather than in the address. Reloading returns you to Last 30 days. That also means a filtered analytics view cannot be sent to a colleague as a link. Tell them the period, or take the answer from the analyst instead, which quotes the window it used. See . The customer directory behaves differently: its filters do live in the address and can be shared. See . ## Does this picker drive the other Store pages? [#does-this-picker-drive-the-other-store-pages] No. **Inventory** and **Purchase orders** have their own window controls, because they are asking different questions. An inventory ranking window is "how far back should I look to judge what sells", which is not the same as "what period am I reporting on". See .
