Group it, filter it, and drag bars to reschedule. --- > Documentation index: fetch https://tideswell.xyz/llms.txt to discover every page before exploring further. # How to use the roadmap The **roadmap** puts campaigns, projects, milestones and tasks on one horizontal timeline, with a frozen name column down the left. It is the screen for "what is happening between now and the drop", and it is the only place you can reschedule by dragging. Find it under **Tasks views** in the sidebar. The things on it come from . ## Before you start [#before-you-start] Reading the roadmap needs nothing. Dragging does. Moving a project bar needs the right to manage that project, in its own department. Moving a campaign band is an admin action. Without those, everything still shows and simply does not drag. ## How do you group and filter it? [#how-do-you-group-and-filter-it] The header holds one grouping switch and two filters. **Grouping** flips between **Campaign** and **Department**. Campaign mode answers "what is in the Autumn drop". Department mode answers "what is Marketing doing", and the band becomes the team instead. The **department** and **campaign** pickers narrow what is on screen. Expand and collapse a band with its arrow to show or hide the projects and tasks underneath. Start collapsed and open only the band you care about. The chart is much easier to read that way than fully expanded. ## What are the shapes on the chart? [#what-are-the-shapes-on-the-chart] * A **band** is a campaign, or a department in Department mode. * A **bar** is a project, running from its start date to its target date. * A **violet diamond** is a milestone. * A **rose diamond** is a milestone at risk: its date has passed and its project is not done. * A **tail** past the end of a bar is an overrun, drawn when a project has run past target. * The vertical line is **Today**. Undated milestones sit in a **No date set** list below the chart rather than being dropped. See . ## How do you reschedule by dragging? [#how-do-you-reschedule-by-dragging] Drag a **project bar** to move its start and target together. Drag a **campaign band** to move the whole campaign. Drag a **milestone diamond** to move its date. Each drag saves when you drop it. This is the fastest way to replan a slipped launch, because you are moving the thing itself rather than opening four screens. Dragging moves dates. It does not move the tasks inside a project, which keep their own due dates. To move those, use a bulk reschedule from the project's list, covered in . ## What does clicking a diamond do? [#what-does-clicking-a-diamond-do] Opens a side panel for that milestone, where you can rename it, change its date, jump to its project, or delete it with a two-step confirm. The edit and delete controls appear for people who can manage that project's department. Everyone else gets the panel as a read-only view, which is still the quickest way to find out what a diamond is. ## Why has the chart left me in empty space? [#why-has-the-chart-left-me-in-empty-space] Because the visible date range grows as you drag and does not re-centre by itself. After moving something a long way, you can be left scrolled past everything. Reload the page and it re-centres. That is the whole fix. The timeline has one fixed scale, so a very long campaign is a matter of scrolling rather than zooming. Grouping by campaign and collapsing the bands you are not reading is the practical way to keep it manageable. ## Why is a campaign on here that we finished? [#why-is-a-campaign-on-here-that-we-finished] Because a live project still points at it. The band follows the projects rather than the other way round. Move those projects to the current campaign, or clear their campaign on the project Properties card, and the old band goes with them. See .
